Jim Atkins of Prosser, Washington, is passionate about rodeo having been a former bareback rider and team roper. These days, he keeps busy participating as an announcer working rodeos in Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon.

He explains that working rodeos is a year-round effort updating and researching contestants, stock contractors, rodeo results and standings. Jim states, “My goal at every rodeo is to help make the event a memorable experience for everyone including the fans, contestants, stock contractors and the committee.”

Like most rodeo families, Jim enlists the help of his family members. His son, Jeremiah Atkins (Bullfrog Productions), is the soundman at most of his rodeos. Jim’s wife, Linda, supports him administratively and by keeping things on track at home and in their business.
